About

Big Life

MADE FOR THIS

Big Life Integrative Health is located in Lone Tree, Colorado. We offer a more natural, integrated approach to Family Medicine through Direct Primary Care (DPC). We also offer IFM Certified Functional Medicine, Neurostimulation, Hormone Replacement, Medical Weight Loss, Muscle Testing, IV Hydration, and Ozone Therapy (including Insufflation).

At Big Life, we believe we were made with intention and for good. When we feel well, we can connect with our purpose and live a life of impact. Many of us simply don't realize how good our bodies are actually made to feel. It's time to change that. Big Life can help.

Our Approach

INTEGRATIVE

It's no secret that the outlook surrounding today's healthcare system is grim. Few providers are set up to succeed, as insurance companies' cost-saving measures lessen appointment times, increase a provider's patient panel to unmanageable volumes, and limit patients' access to life-enhancing, sometimes even life-saving, elective procedures, consults, and testing.

Big Life believes there is a better way. By eliminating insurance reimbursements from our practice model, we're able to provide medical care that optimizes wellness and improves lives for a low monthly payment that costs about the same amount as a gym membership.

It's time you were cared for by a medical team as invested in your well being as you are. Let's all live our “big life."

ROOT CAUSE

Big Life providers take the time to do more than just treat presenting symptoms. We seek root cause and authentic healing. Longer appointment times, advanced technologies, and more thorough testing allow us to pursue a healthier you.

Happy Family Celebrating

RELATIONSHIP

Our model allows you to be known and to receive care when you need it, including after hours. We focus on wellness and keeping you out of expensive ERs and Urgent Care facilities.

DIGNITY

We believe we have each been made with intention and for good. Our bodies reflect the dignity of a perfect design and should be treated with care and reverence. We do not offer treatments that could create harm, including artificial birth control.

Our Space

DIGNITY reflected

The Big Life Integrative Health office isn't like most doctor's offices or come-and-go IV Bars. Here, we want you to feel safe, protected, and heard. We use cloth instead of paper, robes instead of hospital gowns, soft lights instead of fluorescents, and materials from the Earth instead of plastics as much as possible. We understand the dignity of our patients matters most.

What Makes the Direct Primary Care Experience Different?

  • Smaller patient panels allow more time with your provider. Real relationships flourish and you have access to care when you need it most, including after hours and on weekends.
  • Funds are directed to achieve wellness and long-term cures rather than band aid solutions or corporate executive salaries.
  • Better, more personalized care is available at highly reasonable rates. You actually know your medical team and they know you.
  • Providers and patients are free from financial pressures from upstream interests like hospital systems and pharmaceutical companies who thrive on Primary Care Provider referrals. We won't refer you anywhere else unless we have to.
  • No more having to create unnecessary appointments for simple things like medication refills and form signing.
  • Big Life offers so much more than just primary care. We also specialize in Functional Medicine, Neurofeedback and Neurostimulation, Nutrition and IV Hydration.
  • Our patients are far more likely to stay out of Urgent Care or the ER, because we offer 24 hour access to our medical team.

How Much Does DPC Cost?

Big Life's Direct Primary Care is available to children and adults at the following rates, with households enjoying additional savings. Big Life cares for men, women, and children.

  • $125 / month / 1 adult
  • $250 / month / 2 adults

Children under 25 are cared for at a rate of $30 / month with two adult DPC patients.

  • $225 / month / 1 adult + 1 child

Additional children under 25 are cared for at a rate of $30 / month with 1 adult + 1 child DPC patient.

  • $100 / month / 0-17 child (no adult)

Patients may elect to pay in monthly or annual installments.

10% savings available for those who elect to pay in annual installments.

A Registration Fee will be collected at time of sign up in the amount of $65 / patient.

30-day written notice is required to cancel your DPC membership, but there is no fee to cancel. You are welcome to withdraw at any time after your first three months in our practice.

However, a 12-month waiting period is required to re-enroll in Big Life DPC.

Big Life works hard to include as many of our services in the DPC membership as possible, but some specialty services or extraordinary labs may incur additional fees. These fees have been greatly reduced for DPC members.

Is DPC a Good Model for Patients with High Deductible Health Insurance Plans?

Absolutely. HDHPs often require participants to pay out-of-pocket for any non-preventative healthcare needs, making DPC's low, periodic fee well-suited to ensure your health is prioritized without allowing unforeseen costs to break the bank.

What Do Patients Like Best about DPC Care at Big Life?

  • Direct-to-provider access when you need it, even after hours and on weekends.
  • Same-day or next-day appointments available.
  • Longer and more comprehensive appointments.
  • Telemedicine visits for convenience.
  • More specialties under one roof.
  • Transparent, affordable pricing.
  • Return to relationship with your doctor and the Big Life medical staff. Be personally known.

What If I Want to Cancel My DPC Membership at Big Life?

We make it easy to cancel your DPC membership, as you can do so at any time after your first three months, without worrying about unnecessary fees or headache. You must simply supply written notice 30 days in advance of the time you'd like to cancel. There is no cost to withdraw.

However, registration fees are non-refundable and patients must wait 12 months before electing to reenroll in DPC membership at Big Life after cancelling.

Patients who withdraw from Big Life DPC may still take advantage of non-primary care services at Big Life.

What If I Need Care After Business Hours or on Weekends?

As a patient of our DPC practice - and only Big Life patients who participate in Direct Primary Care - you have access to Big Life providers around the clock.

There is a special number for this elevated care. Please call 720.523.0321 (NOT the main line).

This number is only given out to existing DPC patients.

NOTE: Out of respect for our providers, non-urgent care or routine services like med checks and refills should wait for business hours.

What Is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a practice model in which patients pay their provider directly via a periodic membership fee for a defined set of primary care services. Insurance and HSA funds are not processed by the practice.

Big Life DPC is unique in the DPC world in that it offers multiple specialty care services in our DPC model as well - including Functional Medicine, Neurofeedback, IV Hydration and more - either as part of the membership fee or at greatly reduced rates for members.

What Are the Benefits of DPC?

DPC prioritizes the relationship between a patient and provider to improve health outcomes and lower overall healthcare costs. Providers are free to spend more time with patients because they are not bound by insurance reimbursement restrictions, hospital interests, or big pharma preferences. More and more patients and employer networks are turning to DPC to improve health outcomes and ensure provider sustainability.

What Services Are Included?

Want to know more about what services are included in your Big Life DPC membership fee and what services might incur additional expense? Click the following links for an outline of coverage.

What About Insurance?

Patients who receive health care insurance coverage, either through employers or individual insurance plans, can receive primary care at Big Life. This is true even though Big Life does not participate in any insurance contracts or file claims on your behalf.

In fact, most patients still carry insurance for coverage of healthcare services that cannot be provided in the primary care practice setting, such as specialty care and hospitalizations.

Your insurance may allow you to file a claim for reimbursement for some or all of your DPC monthly (annual) retainer costs.

Your insurance will likely reimburse some or all of the costs for medical services that incur additional fees, outside the monthly (annual) retainer, depending on your plan.

The patient is responsible for filing these claims, although Big Life will supply itemized documentation needed for your claims.

Are DPC Membership Fees Considered Tax Deductible?

At this time, Direct Primary Care retainer fees are not considered medical expenses by the government and are, therefore, not deemed tax-deductible. As Direct Primary Care as a practice model continues to gain momentum, this may change in time.

Can I Use my HSA or FSA Funds to Pay for Big Life Medical Expenses?

Unfortunately, HSA monies cannot yet be used to pay for your DPC membership at Big Life, but HSA funds can be used for things like imaging, prescription drugs, vaccines, and most other medical costs. The government is considering allowing HSA funds to be used for DPC memberships in the future however, so stay tuned.

FSA funds may be able to be used for both DPC memberships and other medical costs at Big Life. Please reach out to your plan administrator to determine what your FSA funds allow.

What about Patients with Medicare or Medicaid?

Although the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced forthcoming DPC models as part of their effort to “deliver value-based transformation in primary care," regulations to define such efforts have yet to emerge.

Big Life is unfortunately not able to accommodate Medicare or Medicaid patients at this time in our DPC services. They may enjoy our IV Hydration and Neurofeedback / Neurostimulation services however.

How Do I Register to Become a DPC Patient at Big Life Integrative Health?

Registration is easy. Interested patients (non Medicare or Medicaid) can simply follow the link on the New Patient Registration page of our website. There is a one time registration fee for every new patient.

We do prefer patients register through the system, as it allows us to gather important demographic information and health history details. It also allows us to begin your patient journey in our EMR system, which will be a go-to method for quick communication with your provider.

The system will ask you for payment information upon registration, but rest assured, we do not process any payments until you have fully completed the new patient registration process and received initial treatment.

Muscle Testing

what is muscle testing?

Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology, is a non-invasive, non-painful diagnostic method that uses the body’s own nervous system to uncover hidden issues. It’s natural biofeedback and remarkably effective.

During muscle testing, a provider will apply gentle pressure to different areas of the body to stimulate the muscles. When there's stress or abnormal input to a muscle (an underlying issue), it weakens. Healthy muscles are strong and withstand average resistance.

After testing, your provider will present you with a good picture of how your glands, organs, lymphatic system, nervous system, circulation, muscle. and bone structures are working. They will also provide you with a plan to address any issues.

Sessions typically last an hour for the initial consult, with follow ups typically recommended every two to three months to monitor progress.

Functional Medicine

BIG LIFE IS ONE OF COLORADO'S ONLY IFM CERTIFIED FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE TEAMS. EXPERIENCE THE BEST.

What Is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a systems based, root cause analysis of the whole person. It is anchored in science to address the fundamental question: how do I live my best life to avoid, prevent, or holistically treat disease?

Functional Medicine focuses on the provider/patient therapeutic partnership, fostering a healing relationship in which the patient actively participates in their care.

What Are the Benefits?

Functional Medicine is a field known to affect positive results when patients who suffer from chronic illness, pain, and disease and "nothing else" has worked, seek help. We offer hope when you've almost given up.

Why? It is truly mind-body-spirit medicine that seeks clues to ailments that might even stem from incidents in your childhood. For instance, did you grow up near a chemical production plant and are only now experiencing the effects of contaminated water systems?

The key is time.

Time for your provider to actually get to know you and listen to your comprehensive medical history and run more thorough diagnostics. Only then can we begin to seek treatment.

What Does the Functional Medicine Program Entail?

Functional Medicine at Big Life begins with a thorough intake and investigation of not only your medical history but also your mental, emotional, and spiritual health triggers.

It includes a nutritional physical exam where the mouth, skin, hair, and nails are evaluated through a Functional lens to identify nutritional deficiencies that can be difficult to detect by laboratory analysis alone.

The goal with Functional Medicine is to allow the body to heal itself by adjusting the diet using high-quality supplements, IV nutrition, and sometimes pharmaceuticals to improve quality of life and treat the root cause of disease.

Testing includes conventional lab testing along with Functional lab testing, for example comprehensive GI panels, SIBO testing, Dutch testing/hormone metabolite testing, cortisol salivary testing, toxin evaluation, and genetic evaluation.

Is Big Life Certified with the Institute for Functional Medicine?

Yes! Anyone can offer Functional Medicine, but only a select few providers have gone through the additional coursework and certification process available at the Institute for Functional Medicine. All Big Life Functional Medicine providers have achieved this sought offer medical distinction.

Is Functional Medicine Included in my Direct Primary Care costs?

Big Life's DPC model offers comprehensive medical care for you and your family, and our providers do take a holistic approach when treating our DPC patients. Some patients, however, deserve a true deep dive to help relieve chronic stubborn pain and disease. Other patients want an intimate analysis of their health in order to formulate proactive healthy aging strategies and habits.

For those, we recommend Functional Medicine. Any patient, DPC or non-DPC member, can seek Functional Medicine treatment at Big Life. While the Functional Medicine fees are not included in the DPC membership, DPC patients DO receive 15% off any Functional Medicine fees.

How Much Does Functional Medicine Treatment Cost?

Choose the Visit Package that works best for you.

1 Visit = $550

3 Pack = $1,500

Please inquire for special pricing if you are seeking to continue Functional Medicine treatment with one of our providers and following them from another clinic. (Treatment in progress within the last 6 months.)

All Big Life DPC patients who are up-to-date with membership fees receive 15% off listed FM rates.

Are Functional Medicine Labs Included in the Visit Package Pricing?

No. Functional Medicine lab panels are additional costs of the program. However, Big Life offers discounted rates on all lab fees.

Are Functional Medicine Nutritional Supplements Included in the "Visit Package" Pricing?

No. Supplements recommended as part of your Functional Medicine treatment will be offered from our clinic or our online pharmacy for an additional charge. Big Life works to keep these costs as low as possible for our patients.

Will Functional Medicine Labs Be Drawn In House?

As many as possible, yes. Some lab panels, however, require special processing and will be referred to your local Labcorp. Patients can use their insurance for all labs drawn at Labcorp.

What Can I Expect as a Big Life Functional Med Patient?

We look forward to listening and learning about your story and developing a personalized care plan unique to you.

Every patient is different and every person's story is unique. We hope to better understand those differences and look to evaluate and treat from a holistic perspective to allow you to live your best life, the life you were made for. You were made for this.

Can I Seek Functional Medicine Treatment at Big Life If I Am NOT a Direct Primary Care Member?

Absolutely. We welcome patients from our Direct Primary Care and from outside our DPC in our Functional Medicine program.

DPC Members do, however, enjoy 50% savings on all Functional Medicine treatment at Big Life, so many opt to enroll as part of their long-term health strategy.

Biote -

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, or BHRT, is a form of hormone therapy that has existed in the U.S. for many decades and uses hormones that are structurally similar to those found within the human body.

What Is the Potential Advantage of Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones, such as the ones used by Biote, work with the body’s chemistry because they closely replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that normally occur within the body.

What Is Pellet Therapy?

Biote Certified Providers receive training on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in the form of subcutaneous pellets. These pellets are inserted into the upper buttocks area during an in-office visit after testing is done to determine the exact quantity of the hormone the patient requires. Every dose is customized based on a consultation and extensive lab work to ensure a patient receives the exact concentration of hormones needed.

Bioidentical hormones, such as the ones used in training by Biote, work with the chemistry of the body because they replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that normally occur within the body.

Is There More Than One Type of Pellet?

Yes, there are two major pellet therapy types: estrogen pellets and testosterone pellets.

What Is Estrogen?

Estrogen is a hormone that possesses many functions and occurs in the bodies of both men and women. In women, estrogen is commonly associated with reproduction—it prompts the menstrual cycle and develops the female body’s secondary sex characteristics. However, in both sexes, estrogen is responsible for many facets of bone health, cholesterol metabolism, and the thickness and collagen content of the skin.

What Are Estrogen Pellets?

Estrogen pellets are small cylinders that are custom compounded and composed of estradiol, a form of estrogen. Estrogen pellets may relieve emotional, reproductive, and non-reproductive symptoms. The most common administration for estrogen pellets is to help address the uncomfortable symptoms of aging in women.

What Happens During the In Office Insertion?

During the in-office visit, which only takes a few minutes, patients are brought into the exam room, and the insertion site is numbed. The most common site of insertion is the upper buttocks. A small incision is then made for pellet insertion. Once the pellet is inserted, the insertion site is covered with a small bandage.

What Happens to Pellets After Insertion?

Since pellets are bioidentical and contain hormones like those our body produces, pellets are completely dissolved and absorbed, leaving nothing behind.

What Happens in the Weeks Following Insertion?

After pellet insertion, it’s best to abstain from lower body exercise. Walking should be fine, but strenuous activity is not recommended. Avoid bathtubs, swimming and hot tubs ; however, showers are permitted. After removal of the bandage, normal activity may resume.

How Often Is Pellet Insertion Necessary?

As each patient’s symptoms are unique, so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization. The Biote Method is customized to fit a patient’s specific needs.

What Is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone normally found in both men and women that is responsible for many critical body processes. Testosterone is produced in the testes and ovaries, and deficiencies can occur in men and women as the body ages.

What Are Testosterone Pellets?

Testosterone pellets are composed of powdered testosterone fused into a pellet using stearic acid as a binding agent. The compounding pharmacies used by Biote provide high-quality pellets with ingredients that are meticulously tested. This testing process gives pharmacists, Biote Certified Providers, and patients confidence in the pellets’ quality.

What Health Concerns May Testosterone Pellets Relieve?

Testosterone has been shown to relieve a wide range of reproductive, emotional, and non-reproductive conditions. Some of these include low energy, sexual dysfunction, mood swings, irritability, and many others.*

How Do Estrogen Levels Change with Age?

In women, estrogen levels decrease as they get older. Hormone levels in women drop most dramatically during perimenopause (immediately before menopause) and during menopause. In fact, after female menopause, many men may have higher estrogen levels than women. If a woman has had a radical hysterectomy involving the removal of both ovaries, her estrogen levels will struggle significantly, as the ovaries’ primary responsibility is estrogen production. Although adrenal glands produce some estrogen, as does fat tissue, this is often not enough to effectively balance and maintain women’s hormone levels.

What Health Concerns Might Estrogen Pellets Relieve?

Estrogen pellets are primarily used to combat the effects of menopause. Studies have shown that estrogen may also help relieve some symptoms associated with mood, bone density, and heart health.

Why BioTE?

Thousands of certified providers across the U.S. offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) and hormone optimization in the form of subcutaneous pellets. With more than 2.5 million hormone pellet insertions performed in the company’s history in over a decade, we’ve seen thousands of lives changed with the Biote Method of pellet therapy.

How Long Do Pellets Last?

Pellets last up to three to six months depending on gender, weight, absorption rates, and the amount of deficiency or surplus of hormones present within the patient at the time of insertion. Pellets are reinserted between two to four times per year to help keep hormones optimized and balanced and may take up to two insertions before feeling the full benefits.

Is Fasting Required Before an Insertion?

No fasting is required in advance of the insertion.

What Blood Tests Are Required Before an Insertion?

Biote Certified Providers require extensive lab work while considering a patient’s candidacy for BHRT using pellets. A provider will discuss the results with a patient before moving forward with pellet therapy.

What Can a Patient Expect from BHRT?

As each patient’s symptoms are unique, so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization. Some patients report some relief in as soon as four weeks, but full hormone optimization may take up to six months. Many report feeling more benefits after the second insertion. The Biote Method of hormone optimization therapy will be customized to balance each patient’s hormones and fit their specific needs.

What Is the Goal of BHRT?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may offer relief for many common and debilitating symptoms that medical providers often overlook. Some of these symptoms include:

  • Exhaustion
  • Stress
  • Foggy thinking
  • Weight gain
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Low Libido
  • And so much more

Often, people with symptoms like these are suffering from hormonal imbalance. These ailments may be managed by getting to the root cause of these complex conditions and returning the patient to a state of hormonal balance. BHRT may be a simple method for correcting these complex issues through hormone optimization.

How Much Does BHRT from Big Life Cost?

Female Pellets = $385/ Pellet Insertion

Modified Male Pellets = $585 / Pellet Insertion

Standard Male Pellets = $685 / Pellet Insertion

Direct Primary Care members receive $50 / pellet Insertion savings.

NEW PATIENTS receive a new patient visit called a Hormone Consult for just $95 prior to first pellet insertion, although the visit and the first pellet can be received on the same day if labs have been drawn prior.

DPC patients receive the first visit as part of the DPC membership package. They will only need to pay for the special Hormone panel for roughly $125 (insurance may be able to cover those costs).

IV Hydration Therapy

What Is IV Hydration?

IV Hydration is fluid and nutrient administration intravenously through an IV catheter to replenish or provide optimal levels of vitamins and minerals, allowing your body to heal, detoxify, and function at its maximum capacity.

What Are the Benefits?

100% bioavailability! Supplements taken orally have to pass through the gut, only giving you a fraction of absorption, and even less if you have gut or inflammatory issues.

IV administration gets those nutrients straight to the source and can help your body heal and recover from the inside out.

What is the Goal of IV Hydration?

Our goal is to help you life your biggest, best life. That means feeling good. When your body has the nutrients it needs for optimal performance, optimal healing, and maximum energy - you have the best chance of living a life of purpose and meaning.

What's the Difference between Hydration and Nutrient Therapy?

They can sometimes be one and the same and sometimes quite different. Hydration therapy is the replacement of fluid through administration into your veins. The bag of fluid can contain vitamins and minerals, or those nutrients can be administered separately (meaning not diluted in the fluid) - such as through a shot or pushed through an IV catheter.

Administration depends on which nutrients are being given and how much fluid is needed in order to provide safe and effective administration.

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is the master detoxifier! It is a peptide derived from amino acids in your body. It is an incredible antioxidant.

Found in every cell in the body but mostly concentrated in your liver, glutathione is crucial to breaking down free radicals, decreasing, inflammation, and removing toxins from cells. Cells lacking glutathione are at risk for damage due to oxidative stress.

HYDRATION IS HEALING.

How Is Big Life's IV Hydration Different than the Standard IV Bar?

  1. Knowledge. On-site supervision from our medical providers.
  2. Loaded. We offer more nutrients in every bag than anywhere else.
  3. Quality. We offer preservative-free nutrient options because we don't want your body to have any more barriers to wellness. There are preservatives in your food, household products, environment, etc. You don't need them in your veins.
  4. Outcomes. We want our patients to feel better when they leave our office. Our providers formulate personalized nutrient pushes that give your cells better nutrition by not diluting our IV supplements. Our patients feel more effects more quickly.

What is NAD+ ?

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide is a cellular transport molecule found in every cell of the body and is essential for cell life and cell function, including DNA and mitochondrial protection.

NAD+ is popularly referred to as an anti-aging molecule because its presence is highest in babies and decreases as we age.

It is said to help healing at a cellular and DNA level.

NAD+ is continually made and recycled in the cells but is often depleted due to DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, and age-related illnesses and diseases.

Lower levels of NAD+ have been found in people with comorbidities that involve free radicals and oxidative stress, including diabetes, heart disease, vascular disease, and Alzheimer's.

Many studies are underway to asses the benefits of NAD+, but it is suggested that NAD+ therapy may encourage optimal mitochondrial function and homeostasis, genomic stability, neuroprotection, long life, and may even help with addition treatment.

Big Life is proud to offer NAD+ treatments. It is a longer infusion, with the first dose often infused over 2-4 hours.

How Much Does IV Hydration Cost?

All Big Life patients of other therapies (including DPC, Functional Medicine, Neurofeedback, etc.) receive 15% off all IV therapies.

As our IV nutrients are overseen and administered by on-side medical providers and nurses, we never ask our patients to tip. This results in additional significant savings as compared to other IV bars.

PRIMARY CARE, aesthetics

Katie McCabe, ACNP-BC

Katie McCabe is a Board Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC). She’s also a Colorado native, returning to her home state to practice medicine and raise her family after earning her Bachelor of Nursing from Boston College and her Master in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago, with a special focus on Adult and Geriatric patient care.

Katie’s passion for medicine has been lifelong, with some of her favorite work done early in her career at the Surgical ICU at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. It was there that she developed her passion for “cura personalis,” or care of the whole person. When patients are at their most vulnerable, never more so true than during surgery, it is the provider who sees the body and the soul who makes the greatest impact.

Most recently, Katie spent nine years leading the Advanced Practice Provider Team at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at UCHealth. It was there that she recognized the unique needs of patients here in Colorado. Katie believes wellness begins at home. Her entry to practice in a clinical environment allows her to walk with families as they journey toward fuller, healthier lives.

PRIMARY CARE, aesthetics

Leslie Kelty, FNP-BC

Leslie Kelty is a native Coloradan born and raised in Boulder. She attended Boston College Connell School of Nursing, receiving both her Bachelor and Master of Nursing there, with a specialty in Family Health.

Board Certified to care for patients for over 13 years, Leslie’s work experience includes both urgent and primary care settings. It’s made her especially equipped to understand the stress patient’s feel when health becomes acute, and the incredible opportunity to prevent many of those same crises through properly managed primary care.

Leslie joins Big Life with a hope to not only maximize patients’ wellness, but to practice in an environment where the patient-provider relationship is still central to the medical mission. Robust testing, advanced technologies, ongoing learning, and readily available, comprehensive exams lead to personalized wellness plans for each individual.

Leslie also brings experience in medical aesthetics to Big Life. An early practitioner with Katie McCabe at The Skin Clique, Leslie understands patients want to look their best and trust they’re receiving safe, effective treatments.

FAQs

What Services Are Included in Direct Primary Care?

Want to know more about what services are included in your Big Life DPC patient membership fee and what services might incur additional expense? Click the following links for an outline of coverage.

Does Big Life Accept Medicare and Medicaid Patients?

Unfortunately, Big Life cannot accept Medicare or Medicaid patients at this time.

We hope that future changes in government regulations might change this status in the future.

What Does the Government (CMS) Say about Direct Primary Care?

Although the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has yet to announce plans, it has said they hope DPC models to be an option for future care as part of their plan to “deliver value-based transformation in primary care."

Can I Become a Patient of Functional Medicine, IV Hydration, Neurostimulation or Neurofeedback at Big Life If I Am Not a DPC Patient As Well?

Absolutely. Our team is highly specialized in primary care and other fields of medicine. We often have patients seek treatment who live too far away to become a regular primary care care patient or who simply already receive primary care treatment at another clinic.

Can I Receive Primary Care at Big Life without Being a Part of DPC?

We do occasionally see patients for a one-off appointment on a cash pay basis. This is subject to provider availability, as we prioritize our DPC patients' access to the team.

What if I Need to Cancel My Direct Primary Care Membership?

You may cancel your Big Life DPC at any time after your first three months in our group by simply providing us with 30 days written notice by sending an email to admin@biglifecolorado.com or submitting documentation to our office in through the post.

Your retainer fees will conclude at the end of the next monthly billing cycle upon receipt of your written notice.

However, patients who leave our practice will not be able to rejoin Big Life's DPC services for a period of one year.

How Prevalent Is the DPC Model in the United States?

There are more than 1,700 direct primary care practices and growing, operating in nearly every state in the U.S. On average, direct primary care practices have fewer than 600 patients.

May I Use HSA, HRA, or FSA Funds at Big Life?

For many services, yes.

HSA, HRA, and FSA funds can usually be directed for Functional Medicine, Neurofeedback, Neurostimulation, IV Hydration, and primary care service NOT included in your monthly Direct Primary Care retainer fee.

At this time, HSA, HRA, and FSA funds cannot be directed toward your DPC monthly (annual) retainer fee or consumables like supplements.

Is Direct Primary Care a Good Option for Patients with High Deductible Health Plans?

Usually, yes! Having moving your primary care to Big Life's DPC model might make you more comfortable with the idea of having a health plan with a higher deductible, or one that counts all services toward the deductible instead of covering things like office visits with a copay.

Are DPC Retainer Fees Considered Tax Deductible?

At this time, Direct Primary Care retainer fees are not considered medical expenses by the government and are therefore, not deemed tax-deductible at this time. As Direct Primary Care as a practice model continues to gain momentum, this may change in time.

Does Big Life Offer Artificial Birth Control or Synthetic Hormones as Part of Therapies?

Although we certainly care for and respect the decision of patients who receive artificial birth control or synthetic hormone therapies at other health care clinics, we do not offer those treatments at Big Life. We promote more natural methods of family planning and hormone regulation that do not run the risk of causing cancers or other maladies later on.

What If I Need Care After Hours or on a Weekend?

One of the benefits of direct primary care is access to your provider when you need it most - including after hours and on weekends. We do ask that patients respect the family time of our team by only escalating true urgent concerns during these off hours, but should you need care, please call our office at 720.523.0321 and a provider will be in touch soon. Please note, after hours care is for active, Direct Primary Care patients only. Also know, urgent symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath should still go to the ER immediately.

What Does It Mean that Big Life is a Life Affirming Practice?

We have utmost regard for the brilliance of the human design. We believe our bodies were made with intention and for good. We do not, therefore, prescribe or refer for abortions or life-ending treatments. We are incredibly respectful, however, of all patients' stories and readily welcome anyone who might disagree but still opt to receive care at Big Life or who would like us to treat them post-procedure. Every story is worthy and deserving of reverence and respect.
